Elena holds a first degree in General and Experimental Psychology, a PhD in Cognitive Sciences from University of Padova (Italy) and an MRes in Security Science from UCL. Her research activity focuses onthe cognitive mechanisms and the neural basis of higher functions suchas mathematical cognition, visuospatial attention, and bodyrepresentation, as well as on cross-talks between these domains.She is currently working towards the completion of a PhD in SecurityScience, with the aim to develop straightforward applications ofacademic research on autism-related and personality traits in thecontext of visual inspection for security purposes.
Elena is collaborating with partner organisations from both theprivate (e.g. 3DX-Ray) and the public sector (e.g. Centre for AppliedScience Technology, Department for Transport). Her interests lie inthe reciprocal benefits that may arise from a constructive dialogue between academic researchers and the applied science industry, in thetrade-offs that such collaboration may entail, as well as in itspotential to generate entrepreneurial opportunities. |
